SUMMARY:Romeo & Juliet - A Cinematic Ballet
DESCRIPTION:ARC Dance Productions Presents the \nRomeo & Juliet Project\n– A Cinematic Ballet Filmed at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall –  \nARC Dance offers a new twist to the central story of Romeo & Juliet. Choreographed by Artistic Director Marie Chong\, this cinematic dance version updates the “lovers from feuding families” theme from Shakespeare’s classic play to a more current setting: opposing political groups in America. Featuring Romeo (Kouadio Davis) and Juliet (Stephanie Rae Williams)\, faceless crowds of red and blue hooded figures\, and a mysterious Gray Man\, Chong\, cast\, and film crew spent four days filming in Seattle Symphony’s Benaroya Hall to create this setting for this cinematic ballet. \n“The show must go on\,” said Chong. “I wanted to find a way to create a story ballet using the video medium as an integral part of the process.” She added\, “People seem to be craving a compelling story and Romeo and Juliet serves as a reminder of what too much separation between those who are on opposite sides can cause.” \nARC is one of three inaugural recipients of a grant through Seattle Symphony’s Community Stages Fund. This new initiative supports fellow\, local\, non-profit organizations by providing access to resources needed to create digital media content while large in-person gatherings are restricted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Seattle Symphony’s Community Stages Fund is generously underwritten by the Tagney Jones Family Fund at Seattle Foundation. \nRomeo and Juliet – A Cinematic Ballet\, is a virtual performance available to stream on Vimeo. \n\nFriday\, August 20th – 4 :00pm\,  8:00pm\, and 10:00pm PST\nSaturday\, August 21st – 4 :00pm\,  8:00pm\, and 10:00pm PST\nSunday\, August 22nd – 4 :00pm\,  and 8:00pm PST\n\n\nBuy Tickets
